  • Beyond Textbooks

Bronco O.A.T.S  (Outstanding Academic Time Slot)

We believe that all students can learn and learn well, but they do not all learn at the same pace. If we provide additional instruction for students when it is needed rather than leaving them behind, students will be more successful. We have identified English, Algebra, and Geometry as areas where we need to provide additional instruction. We also want to help students prepare for future assessments.  Our plan is to provide an additional 30 minutes of instruction for our students to receive support in the classes in which they need targeted assistance.  We will provide this 30 minutes by reducing each class by five minutes, in each of the six periods. This new class will be called “Intervention class.” Students will be identified by their teacher and attend Intervention for one week at a time. Those students who are not assigned to Intervention class will attend Bronco O.A.T.S. where they will receive individual instruction in other subjects, receive tutoring as needed, or work on assignments.

    Important Information for all parents:

ABOR approves restructuring of the Regents’ High Honors Endorsement scholarship
“The changes that the Board made today preserve the original intent of the RHHE scholarship – that is to incentivize the best and brightest Arizona students to attend an Arizona public university,” said ABOR Chairman Anne Mariucci. “At the same time, we are raising expectations for academic achievement here in Arizona and directing resources where they can have the maximum impact.”
Key changes to the award include a reduction in the scholarship amount and the addition of the ACT and SAT, in addition to AIMS, as eligibility criteria. With the changes enacted, the annual cost to the universities will be reduced to $4 million, from approximately $12 million in FY 2010, freeing up $8 million for need-based aid. The universities will be asked to report annually in the Student Financial Aid Report on the reallocation of the resources currently allocated under the AIMS criterion for need-based aid.
A summary of the approved changes follows:
    • University Academic Year 2011-12 (Current high school seniors)
No change to current criteria or award amount
    • University Academic Year 2012-13 (Current high school juniors)
No change to current criteria or award amount
    • University Academic Year 2013-14 (Current high school sophomores)
No changes to criteria for AIMS, competency courses or GPA.
Add scores on ACT of 28-36 or SAT1 at 1300-1600.
Reduce the scholarship amount to 25% of tuition. At the discretion of the university, a student may be awarded more merit aid.

    Spring Sports Tryouts
are the 2nd week of February!
Make sure you get all your paperwork in ASAP.
Part of the sports packet is completing the Brainbook class. Go to AIAonline.org and then click on AIA academy. You will find Brainbook on that site. It takes about 40 minutes and you need a quiet place to complete it. Print off a copy of your certificate or e-mail it to your coach to print off for you.

If your sports packet is not turned in to Mrs. Martinez prior to tryouts you cannot try out.
It takes a few days to review your sports packet so make sure it is completed in advance.
If you went to a different high school last year it is important to complete a 520 form in addition to your packet.
See Mr. Goff in the A.D.'s office for information about the 520 form.
